Ceramic Armour – Naval
Protective materials for naval applications must be extremely hard yet incredibly lightweight. Our advanced Boron Carbide and Silicon Carbide ceramics exhibit these properties and have thus been replacing steel at an increasing rate. These ceramics are known for their high hardness, high elastic modulus and low density. Ballistic protection solutions, developed and tested in close cooperation with navies around the world, have demonstrated proven protection performance at the highest threat levels.
Boron Carbide (B4C) is amongst the hardest materials found on earth ranking third behind diamond and cubic boron nitride. Silicon Carbide (SiC) is an exceptionally hard, synthetically produced crystalline compound of silicon and carbon.
